Savory sweet and so cheesy! Monte Cristo Sandwich with ham, turkey, Swiss cheese & Dijon mustard.
Ingredients
Directions
Start out with a really good fresh thick bread. I make my own bread for this recipe and will post the recipe link in the conclusion box at the bottom of this recipe. Texas toast also works well.
Blend 5 eggs together. I use the blender for this step so that the eggs are well blended.
Prepare your ham and turkey deli sliced meats and your slices of swiss cheese.
Spread jam on one side of the bread and Dijon mustard on the other side. Add 2 tablespoons of butter to a preheated skillet. You can leave the jam off and serve it on the side if you like.
Assemble the sandiwiches and dip them in the blended eggs.
Place one sandwich in the hot skillet and cook until the bread is golden, and the cheese is melted. I cook the sandwiches one at a time, so the pan doesn't get overcrowded.
Serve with a side of jam for dipping and a mimosa cocktail which is champagne and orange juice. Cut the Monte Cristo sandwiches in half, sprinkle with powdered sugar and enjoy!
